Photos: Kampong Lorong Buangkok

I’ve had these pictures of Kampong Lorong Buangkok a long time — I took them almost a year ago, using black-and-white medium-format film on an old Ansco Shur-Flash.

Kampong Lorong Buangkok’s supposedly the last kampong in Singapore, just five minutes’ drive from where my parents live.

The last two photos have a bit of overlap at the sides, because I didn’t spool the film far enough (resulting in double exposure). Whoops. Good going, Len.

  1. Wonderful pictures. This is a record of a Singapore that is nearly gone. Thanks for posting them.

  2. Glad you like the photos, Chris! It’s a great place to visit, despite the mosquitoes.

    Trip also provoked this haiku:

a gap in the clouds —
    on a stepladder, a man
    whitewashing his house
