I’ve had these pictures of Kampong Lorong Buangkok a long time — I took them almost a year ago, using black-and-white medium-format film on an old Ansco Shur-Flash.

I made a short evening trip to Punggol Park last weekend, to get in a little black-and-white practice. Here are some of the better photos.

Photographing these birds wasn’t easy: swifts are fast, erratic flyers, and it really all came down to luck and a zoom lens in the end. These are fork-tailed swifts, if I’m not mistaken, dropping by Potong Pasir on their way to Australia for the winter.
