Come, let us ring out our joy to the Lord;
let us raise a great cry to the Rock, our salvation.
Bearing thanksgiving, let us come before his face;
with songs of praise, let us acclaim him!
Because the Lord is a mighty god,
a mighty king above all gods;
the earth’s inmost depths are in his hand,
and the mountains’ high horns as well.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and the dry land shaped by his hands;
come, let us fall on our faces and bend low –
let us kneel before the Lord, our maker,
for he is our God, and we are the people
of his pasture, the sheep of his hand.
If only today you would listen to his voice!
"Harden not your hearts as at Meribah,
as on that day at Massah in the wilderness
when your fathers put me to the test;
when they put me on trial,
even though they saw my work.
"For forty years I detested this people,
and I said: 'Their hearts have gone astray;
this people does not know my ways.'
And so, in my anger, I swore:
'Never shall they enter my rest.'"
